InterArts: In the Living Room

Redeemer’s Arts Ministry, and the Center for Faith & Work, have piloted an intensive study series for artists at Redeemer who are seeking to deepen their commitment to a Christ-centered vocation.

In the Living Room offers artists discipleship, informal theological training, as well as encouragement towards their vocational callings. The group consist of artists from various disciplines, living and working in New York City.

The studies facilitate Christian community while exploring the theological significance of 6 roles pertaining to artists and the kingdom of God. The overall queries will approach “how we can effectively synthesize a livable, ‘on the ground’ philosophy of art through a formative theological framework, and how we can integrate our thinking about faith and art for the sake of our artistic practice?”

Participants must be willing to commit to the entire seven-week period. Intimacy and fellowship is augmented by a living room setting, complete with light refreshments. A $30 fee will be required for particpants. All applicants must be practicing artists, either vocationally or bi-vocationally, we are also looking for vocational diversity among group members, we accept only 25 artists per season.

The next session will be in Fall 2012.
