Hello,

Welcome back. How was your summer? Did God awe you this summer? He reminded me of how I need to see Him in this way daily. Similarly, are we in awe of what talents and responsibilities He has put at our disposal? Through the use of those talents, God calls us to be stewards of both new and old things!

We are launching both an "old thing" - the Competition with a special kick-off event - and a "new thing" - a resources page on our website to feature video clips from our Ei Network. So, RSVP and come join us for the benefit of our city!

Sincerely,

Calvin Chin

Founder, Hoppit

Where do I go? For a business lunch? For a romantic date? For a cozy coffee shop? Hoppit can answer all these questions (and more) – based on your taste. Hoppit is a social recommendation engine that reviews service for restaurants, shops, and other activities. Unlike Yelp and CitySearch, Hoppit’s search engine is driven by the unique taste profiles of its members and the unique “genes” of the places they like. Think Yelp + Pandora + Match.com. The end result is an incredibly customized discovery engine for places.

Christian theology significantly influences the way I run Hoppit; recognizing that everyone is created in the image of God influences the way I treat employees and customers alike – with the utmost respect. I also recognize that ideas are direct gifts from God and treat them as such. As the Internet becomes a powerful and influential social medium, I believe that Christian leaders need to participate in that dialogue and help shape the social web’s future in a meaningful way. Hoppit is my seat at that table.

City of Man: Religion and Politics in a New Era
Book by Michael Gerson and Peter Wehner
Foreword below by Tim Keller

In the mid-twentieth-century, H. Richard Niebuhr wrote his classic Christ and Culture, which helped mainline Christian churches think through ways to relate faith to politics. In the end Niebuhr came down on the side of universalism, the view that ultimately God is working to improve things through all kinds of religions and political movements. The result of his work was to lead mainline Protestant churches to become uncritical supporters of a liberal political agenda (though Niebuhr himself opposed such a move.)...
