We were made by God to be creators, after his own image. Using the raw materials of the world he created - earth, body, language, sound, and more - we examine and express our experience. Despite our tendency to make idols of the things we care about, including our art, God reconciles all things through the person and work of Jesus. He calls reborn artists to join him in building his kingdom through creative work!
Art engages our imaginations, exposes us to new ideas, and allows us to experience life more fully. God created art and uses it to teach us about Him, our own hearts, and our world. As lovers of art and artists we are moved into new understandings, emotions, and relationships that allow us to engage with our culture. As patrons (advocates) we can support artists and encourage the creation of art that renews our culture!
NYC is home to a dizzying array of art organizations. In turn, there are many leaders in these institutions who work daily to keep the arts viable. Participants of the arts leader vocational group meet monthly (generally on the third Wednesday of each month, but check calendar for specific dates) to encourage one another in their culture making role while extending prayer towards the many art institutions in the city.
This group is on a break. If you help facilitate the arts, long to integrate your work with your faith, and you are able to inspire and energize, we are looking for a core group of people who would help provide and maintain a mission and vision for this vocation group.
