About the Redeemer Financial Services Ministry
The Redeemer Financial Services Ministry works to equip, connect, and mobilize financial industry professionals for gospel-centered transformation of themselves, their workplace, the city of New York, and the global marketplace. We minister to Redeemer attendees, Christians outside Redeemer, and those who would like to find out more about Christianity and how it interacts with their work. Our members functions in a wide range of industry roles:
o Investment Bankers
o Traders/Sales Traders/Hedge Fund Managers
o Auditors/Public Accountants/Those in Accounting Operations
o Commercial Banking Professionals
o Financial Research Specialists
o Technology/Development Professionals
o Others—Consultants, Operations Specialists, Back Office Personnel, Actuaries, Support Staff, etc
Here are seven strategies we have adopted to achieve our mission in collaboration with our members:
1.) Special Ministry Events: Panel discussions, speakers, workshops, and other special events we organize and sponsor. You can also visit our Event Planning page to find out more about volunteering for events.
2.) Monthly Ministry Fellowships: Monthly gatherings where we invite interested members to share testimonies, explore work and faith issues, and pray together as a group, usually on the fourth Monday of the month.
3.) Mentoring and Summer Chat Series (a.k.a. "A Christian Walk Down Wall Street"): Monthly summer panel discussions and small group discussions focusing on a topic of interest to those in finance and a buddy mentoring program for those new to Wall Street.
4.) Worksite/Focus Area Groups: We currently have several work-site fellowship groups at various firms. The groups often meet every other week during breakfast/lunch/after work for networking, reflection, and social gathering. In addition, we are starting focus networks to connect those not covered by traditional worksite groups.
5.) Prayer Initiative: Our prayer initiative plays two roles--mobilizing those in our ministry to pray and communicating workplace ministry prayer requests to a central prayer team from Redeemer which prays daily for the Center for Faith and Work. Visit the prayer website to sign up for bi-weekly prayer emails.
6.) Service Initiative:
1) Quarterly Service Projects
2) Stewardship Initiative: Working to provide investment training and theological thinking on budgeting, spending, and investment for the congregation and community at large in cooperation with the Redeemer Counseling Center and Budget Initiative.
3) Entrepreneurship Initiative Volunteer Support
7.) Think Tank:
• Monthly dinners with discussions centered on the gospel as it interacts with macro finance issues.
